Starfall book printable12/9/2023 ![]() This is followed with a short game of sorting capital and lower case letters. With our E example, they see and hear about elephants (with a funny little music clip and dancing elephant across the screen), eggs, enter and exit. Things on screen are clickable too – so your child can interact with the scene. As I mentioned, it helps with mouse control because the “next” action your child should take sparkles and, when not clicked for a while, often a little pointing hand bounces near by to show where to click. Both the upper case and lower case letters arrive on an elevator and a voice says the letter name as they change colour on the screen. Each letter goes to its own sequence of things. When you click on the ABC’s button, you get taken to a screen full of letter blocks organized in alphabetical order. The ABCs have always been a favourite here. With the history of the site specifially tied to to learning how to read, it’s obvious that the language activities are excellent. Let me show you some of our favourite sections. It’s really neat to see it being used again by my younger ones. Much of the content you see on this screen is the same content as it was back when my older teens were young. The Kindergarten levels include Language Arts, Math, and some music and games. I think this helps avoid kids stumbling into activities that are too hard for them. ![]() The grade 4 and 5 level resources are only available for members, and you actually have to turn them on from the parent account settings. When you first get to the home page of Starfall, there’s the grade level options so your child can pick activities that best suit your child’s learning level. But the deeper you go into what they offer, prepare to be somewhat overwhelmed. A PEEK INSIDEĪt first glance, this site just seems like a cute place for your child to play games and have fun while conveniently learning things. There are other membership options for small educational groups, classes, and schools as well. This will give you access both to the website and mobile apps. The cost is only $35 US / year for a household. (Plus some that cost a dollar or two if you want some other ones.)Ī full membership to Starfall, however, gives you access to everything available on the website. There are learning to read apps available for both Android, Apple, and Kindle Fire that are free, too. My kids did this for several years – usually when I wanted to test out the longevity of their interest in the program. Anything your child doesn’t have access to is simply grayed out. Most of the games are available as well plus lots of the music and such. ![]() ![]() If you decide not to get a membership, your child can access the main bulk of the website- all the learn to read materials for kindergarten and grade 1 especially. Today, it not only covers learning to read but also math and more for Pre-K /Kindergarten and content in both math and English for grades 1 – 5! HOW MUCH IT COSTS Since then, it has expanded to include so much more. The designer of the program struggled with dyslexia and learning to read as a child, so he wanted to create a way to make reading more interactive and engaging to help all kids excel with their efforts to learn reading. Starfall is publically-funded non-profit educational program which was originally launched in 2002 as a reading program for young children. Find out more, try it free, or register for a membership at.HOW STARFALL CAN HELP YOUR CHILD LOVE LEARNING. ![]()

Balloons everywhere12/9/2023 ![]() ![]() Nic Hughes has also written about Skycademy in his blog.Richard Hayler has written up a blog post about his experience.Visit Twitter and look back over our #skycademy hashtag. If you want to find out more about our Skycademy CPD event, then you should check out the following: I've passed #Skycademy !! Special thanks to & all at for a brilliant HAB course. We are incredibly proud to have certified our first Skycademy cohort, and are excited to see what they accomplish over the next year. Watching #skycademy presentations /UuyIhNFmnn We were so impressed by their presentations, with ideas for student engagement, plans for testing, kite flights, collaborative launches and more. Over the course of the next year we will be support and funding each teacher to carry out their own independent launch with young people back in their schools and clubs. Our final day saw our teams tasked with evaluating their first launch and planning their next. We’re hoping that one day it might be washed up on a beach and returned to us. Our penultimate payload, RPF-A2, was sadly under-filled with helium, which, whilst giving it a nice gentle climb to an impressive 32km, also extended its flight path out to sea. Giving our starting point of being concerned about whether launches would be possible, we were over the moon to launch all five payloads and recover…four. We received a whole host of amazing images from our flights as they rose to 33km Back at HQ we watched with equal amounts of excitement and anxiety as our first-time HAB trainees gave chase! Teams then leapt into their cars and sped away to intercept their payload at their predicted landing site. Something we were a little nervous about doing again…. Simultaneous balloon launch #skycademy /ibcTWUvxAe We (like the balloons) were blown away by the confidence on the teams the first two teams were ready so quickly that we launched them simultaneously. Quick take-off from the #skycademy launch pads /2SMNJYH0Q9Īlmost as soon as we’d released our balloon, the teams quickly got to work readying their flights. We packed our flight with a GoPro camera to capture some amazing footage.įirst balloon away! #skycademy /LbmrhjUhMV However, thanks to an slight easing of the weather conditions and us finding a more westerly launch site, we were thankfully able to launch five flights in quick succession, starting with a demo launch by Dave and me. ![]() With strong easterly winds, there was a high risk of us losing payloads – if we were even able to get them off the ground!Ĭome on nearly there, bit more west would be great! #skycademy /yUwmRAb4DU Leading up to the day we were a little nervous. The plan was for each of our four teams to launch and recover a flight the following day. Here’s a short (and, we think, appropriately dramatic) video to give you a flavour of the three days.ĭuring their time with us our educators received some intensive training from both Dave Akerman and myself, and in teams were provided with all the kit they’d need for their flight. We wanted to engage and inspire those that attended and through them reach young people across the UK and set them the challenge of reaching near space. We started back in February with the idea that we’d like to train 24 educators to launch a HAB flight with their students. However, six weeks on, we have a lot to talk about! It’s been a while since we blogged about Skycademy, the High Altitude Ballooning (HAB) CPD event we ran back in August. ![]()

First year law firm budget12/9/2023 ![]() I started in attorney practice and realised that once I got a decent client I could not really have them come to the broken down building. I started in a 14k office in Perin Nariman Street (towards the CST end) and I moved in six months to a 30k one. Think about whether you can afford to scale up the office expenses a bit more - if you can get to the 40k range. Am talking Mulla on CPC/Contracts, Indu Malhotra on Arbitration, the very basic.įrom my experience starting out, a few suggestions for your consideration:ġ. But at this stage maintaining a decent set of commentaries is as much a necessity to appear decently well read (we do read them!) before posh Counsels and not look out of place. space comes up to around 700 bucks, should 2000/- per month for a commercial connection be a reasonable estimate ? Anyway would like to know what you feel.Ģ. ![]() ![]() If the average domestic power bill for like a 350 sq. Road and closer to CST - one has to sweat it out to reach HC on foot but useful if one has a substantial practice before the M.M. Its a cubbyhole office (can accommodate max 6 ppl) in old commercial building around the Borabazar Precint, not even proper Fort (proper Fort for High Court purpose - Homy Mody Street/Nagindas Master Road/Kala Ghoda/Horniman Circle up to Perin Nariman Street/Cawasji Patel Road). Of course, this won't apply if you have a steady cash flow (not billing but actual cash receipt) from day one.ġ. Please consider keeping aside six months operating costs as a reserve, which will burn through and then cash flow mismatch will come up. You'll also need some funds to meet initial payroll and other costs, since your cash flows won't be in sync with outflows plus as a start up, you'll have some lean months in beginning. One suggestion - just visualize yourself in office (or better, go to an operating office and just look around), you'll realize all expenses. Also, for four persons, why you need five systems, even after assuming your peon and court clerk are also given a system (unless the steno is on your payroll and needs a system).Ĥ) You may want to see when to go for recruitment and don't start with this much team from day one, since it may not be completely needed in beginning, unless you've good deal of work from day one. ![]() And for litigation, you don't need very high specs, unless you have lot of heavy excel data files etc. Can't comment on salaries.Ģ) Many other expenses not considered- subscriptions to journals/ reporting services, refreshments, conveyances, internet/telephone, mail id's, repairs etc, various miscellaneous expenses,ģ) Buy laptops instead of desktops. This is what the first time outlay and monthly outlay of a small, modest Litigation practice in Mumbai looks like.ġ) Rent and power are on lower side. 5,000 (for service, recoverable from client) One time Security Deposit & Brokerage for rented office = Rs. Office Furniture & fixtures (chairs, desks, sofas, ACs, cabinets etc) – Rs. Stationery (Printing paper/Ledger paper), Pens – Rs. After talking to a few friends who struck out on their own and started their own Law Practice (litigation), I have a ballpark figure on the average one-time investment and monthly expenses involved in setting up shop. ![]()

Total warhammer release12/8/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The faction that no one wanted to play in Warhammer I or II, is essentially the focus of this game. Literally five of the eight factions are Chaos. The faction that no one wanted I started up this game, saw the factions and immediately quit. I started up this game, saw the factions and immediately quit. And when we get Immortal Empires map this game will be a must buy even if seige battles suck. In short there are 2 or 3 minor issues that do balloon into MASSIVE problems in seige battles and bugs. Battles are more fun than ever and the new units themselves for all factions look amazing. The maps for campaign and battles LOOK and SOUND amazing. **** **** it he is the funnest and funniest with his changer of ways mechanic. Slannesh is probably the most meh of the 4 but works well and is likely the faction for people who prefer the campaign map side than the actual battles. ![]() Khorn is straightforward but fun as hell. Nurgle mechanically wise feels the weirdest slowest but it fits him well even if it can be annoying. Khorn, Nurgle, Slannesh, and he who I can't spell right all look and feel right. The "secret" unlockables of *spoiler* are a HUUUUGE let down. Kislev feels meh and Cathey is the better of the two but doesn't feel complete or unique from eachother. The minor gripes are that the human/ordertide factions feel a bit undercooked mechanics wise. It's still playable now and I have yet to come across major game breaking bugs that other people have said existed but your milage may vary. So if buggy launchs scare you away just keep your ear to the ground and buy it once it's clean. However I believe the big onesshould be ironed out within a month. Yes yes What's a Total War launch without it's share of bugs. Don't get me wrong the AI seems to work everywhere else it just turns -1000 IQ for these battles. The AI for walled maps are hilariously bad and remind me of Rome 2. When you add in CA's famously bad AI then you have a recipe for disaster. If you play online against another player then Walled maps might be tolerable but even still design wise they have a few flaws. Minor settlements are 1000% better and are fun to play. Firstly, Siege battles are better and worse in this one. There are, however, some issues that need to be noted. Firstly, Siege battles are Look if you loved TW:WH2 then you should already get this. Look if you loved TW:WH2 then you should already get this. And there is one who schemes to achieve just that, an ancient figure who desires nothing less than to wield supreme power. A single push will plunge it into cataclysm. ![]() But each is beset by its own trials, and now both have cause to cross the threshold and send their armies into the Realm of Chaos. On the border between the worlds, two mighty kingdoms stand sentinel: the stern warriors of Kislev and the vast empire of Grand Cathay. Nurgle, the plague god Slaanesh, the lord of excess Tzeentch, the changer of ways and Khorne, the god of blood and slaughter. The four Ruinous Powers rule over this place, ever seeking to slip their bonds and engulf the world in a tide of daemonic corruption. It whispers promises of power, but to behold it is to be seduced by it. It is a terrible place, incomprehensible to the mortal mind. Far beyond the world and its petty wars there exists a dimension of pure, malevolent magic: The Realm of Chaos.
